Welcome to the 2013 APA|NY Photo Contest! 
 
We are pretty excited about this year – our 5th annual competition.  The contest grows bigger and better each year and we are seeing some truly fantastic work. 
The judges for this year’s contest are an esteemed group and span the commercial, editiorial and fine art worlds.There are many reasons for entering a contest – prizes are great, and we have an ever growing circle of sponsors who contribute some pretty brilliant prizes. The P.R. is pretty great as well – we feature your work on our site for a full year after the contest and even bigger and better! Dripbook runs the winner’s gallery for a full year as well – that is a lot of great publicity.

One of the things that APA|NY wants to emphasize through the annual Photo Contest is relationships.  Broad relationships within the industry are the bedrock of any successful photographer’s career.  Through this contest you get your work in front of some of the top talents on the client side. Whether you win, or simply have your work seen, you have a foot in the door.  Through the contest, entrants also have the opportunity to get to know the sponsors – these are the people who make, sell & distribute the products we as photographers use to create and distribute our work.  Getting to know the people behind the infrastructure is a great way to be more deeply engaged in your industry.

ENTRY FEES (+$10 AFTER MAY 20)

  1. Anyone claiming APA membership must be current in their dues at the time of entry and when winners are announced.
  2. A Professional Photographer is anyone actively engaged in the business of photography.
  3. An Assistant is a photographer not yet earning income from creating or licensing photographs, or promoting themselves as a photographer
  4. A Student is a Full or Part-Time student studying photography at the high school or college level and will be asked to provide proof of student status.

Submission Guidelines:

HOW TO ENTER

1.    Create an account

2.    Upload your images

1.  You can upload up to two images at time and as many images as you’d like

2.  All files (single + series entries) must be jpegs, no smaller than 1024 pixels on the longest side and at most 4000 pixels, 72 dpi, sRGB color profile, with no visible identifying text/symbols (see example below)

3.  A single image entry is one image

4.  A series entry is up to three images that relate and are combined onto one canvas with a black background (use below template as a guide).

5.  You’ll see a preview of your images

6.  Select your category for each single or series entry (Please make sure to read the Terms and Conditions)

7.  Select if it is a single or series entry

8.  Preview your submission

9.  Pay with PayPal (you do not need an account)

10. Receive an email confirmation of your submission

Once you’ve paid your submission is final and you are not able to edit your images.  You may return to your account to enter more images.
